The materials used in high-pressure wire‑braided hoses are classified into nonmetallic and metallic materials. With advances in technology and the development of the rubber industry, common nonmetallic materials employed in the production of such hoses include butadiene rubber, styrene–butadiene rubber, and chloroprene rubber. Meanwhile, EPDM rubber, chlorosulfonated polyethylene, chlorinated ether rubber, and hydrogenated butadiene rubber have increasingly been incorporated into the products of manufacturers of high‑pressure wire‑braided hoses.

High-pressure steel-wire‑reinforced hose materials are used to manufacture high‑performance, high‑value‑added products. Nonmetallic reinforcement materials include nylon and polyfiber. With the advancement of the textile industry, high‑performance materials such as aramid fiber have increasingly been incorporated into high‑pressure steel‑wire‑reinforced hoses. Metallic materials comprise copper‑plated steel wire with a circular cross‑section and galvanized steel wire, which serve as skeletal layer components; flat steel wire is also employed in these hoses. New materials for high‑pressure steel‑wire‑reinforced hoses:
(1) EPDMEli: Exhibits excellent heat resistance, aging resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and superior electrical insulation properties, with particularly good corrosion resistance to glycol ether brake fluids and vegetable oils.
(2) Chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber: It exhibits excellent resistance to ozone and climatic aging, as well as good chemical resistance. It also offers superior fire‑retardant, oil‑resistant, and tear‑resistant properties. It is suitable for manufacturing high‑pressure hoses that must withstand highly corrosive media and stringent ozone‑aging requirements, and is particularly well suited for producing the outer rubber layer of hoses intended for use in harsh atmospheric environments.
(3) Chlorinated rubber: Exhibits excellent weathering and aging resistance, as well as good oil and solvent resistance. It also boasts superior flame retardancy and low gas permeability, making it suitable for manufacturing high-pressure steel‑wire‑reinforced hoses that require oil resistance, ozone resistance, weather resistance, and low gas permeability.
(4) Hydrogenated butadiene rubber: Exhibits excellent resistance to oil, extreme temperatures, dynamic fatigue, and ozone. It is suitable for manufacturing oil‑resistant products and other applications with special requirements. High-pressure steel-wire-reinforced rubber hose 。
(5) Butadiene rubber/PVC: Excellent oil resistance and ozone resistance. It exhibits good extrudability and is easy to process, making it suitable for manufacturing high-pressure wound hoses and adhesives that require wear resistance and ozone resistance.
(6) Aramid Fiber: Aramid fiber boasts exceptional properties such as ultra-high strength and light weight, with a tensile strength seven times that of steel wire. Its modulus is 2–3 times that of steel wire or glass fiber, and its toughness is twice that of steel wire. At 450°C, it remains stable without decomposing and exhibits excellent electrical insulation and outstanding aging resistance, ensuring an exceptionally long service life.
(7) Flat steel wire: It features high strength, high modulus, excellent resistance to high‑temperature bending, and superior pressure‑resistance. In particular, it exhibits outstanding resistance to torsion and bending deformation. Steel‑wire‑wrapped tubing made from this wire demonstrates superior pulse‑damping performance compared with hoses manufactured from high‑strength steel wire.
